Great Balloon Launch Event Sunday

Thank you to everyone who came along and to all the people who helped get the balloon launch off the ground on Sunday.
The five, bright red balloons flying at 27 metres were a great way of showing the impact of eight storeys on the Devonport village.
If anyone has some good photos of the balloons standing upright can you please send to devonport.heritage@gmail.com
The resulting publicity is getting to the Government and especially Chris Bishop who was interviewed about Fast Track on RNZ this morning.
We now have over 1000 signatures on the petition – you can sign on our website or in paper form.
We need to keep the pressure on, so our next steps are:
To fly the balloons on early mornings this week, wind permitting.
We’re asking Devonport residents to display a sign on their front fence or house saying No To Eight Yes to Four,
Stop Fast Track etc.
If you would like a corflute sign we can deliver them pre-painted and put them up for you or you can do your own.

FTAA- 2602-1172 Application by Devonport property Man Ltd (DPML)
I am writing regarding the Fast Track application from DPML for a mixed-use development in Devonport. Mention things like this:
The proposals will potentially have a huge impact on the centre of Devonport by ignoring crucial planning rules that are aimed at protecting the area.
The proposed 4 to 8 storey buildings will screen views of Mt Vic/Takarunga, by infringing the height sensitive area.
The buildings will over-power the historic buildings in Victoria Road, shade the playground and ruin the low-scale historic streetscape which Devonport is known for.
Devonport is a widely recognised and valued visitor destination and this proposal will destroy the values for which is known.
The proposal should not be fast tracked as it is not of regional or national significance.
If it is fast tracked, Devonport Heritage should be included as a party for consultation as Peninsula Capital endorsed the group as a key stakeholder when they bought the buildings.
You could add concerns about Lake Road congestion and lack of waste water capacity.
